Figures published by the Department for Transport show that the UK practical driving test pass rate reached 47% between April and December in 2011, which is a 1% rise compared with 2010/11.

The findings reveal that more and more Brits are passing their practical tests, as it is also 3% higher than the same time in 2007/08. Overall, 437,038 driving tests were conducted across all categories during the last three months of last year.

According to the Government report, more women than men took their driving tests in the nine month period but it found that females took more tests before passing.

The findings showed that there was no difference between the sexes with regards to who took the practical motorcycle test. The Department said that generally, the male pass rate for the practical part of the test is 6% higher than women.
